Pregnancy is one of the most amazing things in life. It is a wonder that leaves people awed and amazed at what the human body can do. There are several facts presented below that will guide us through the stages of pregnancy. We will find out what to expect and what is common during these stages so we know what is likely to happen and eventually know what steps to take to take care of a pregnant woman. This will not only make people become empowered with information but also with the right steps to take in taking care of pregnant women.

First, we need to identify the various ways of detecting pregnancy. First off, there are a lot of pregnancy kit for sale over the counter that can help one person identify if she is carrying a baby or not. These pregnancy kits detect changes in hormones brought about by the presence of the amniotic sac or womb. Blood tests can also be used in the hospitals to identify pregnancy. These tests though, can only help people identify if a person is pregnant or but they cannot specify how long the pregnancy has been. So it is really important that dates when intercourse happened should be remembered.

In an ideal setting, pregnancy has three major stages called trimesters. This is how the period of pregnancy is broken down into categories to identify what course of action to take. During the first trimester, it is common for women to experience cramping. Pregnant women should not be that much concerned about this unless there is bleeding or spotting. Another known occurrence during the first trimester is morning sickness. In a recent study, about 70% of pregnant women experience morning sickness. The bad thing is that a lot of miscarriages also occur during the first trimester. It is therefore necessary to treat the first trimester as important as the others.

The second trimester is between the fourth and sixth month of pregnancy. This stage is a period in which many women feel strong and gain weight. This is the stage in which the fetus starts kicking the mother can feel the baby moving inside her. The baby is now also urinating. Among the many changes on this period, the baby has recognizable reproductive organs and teeth. This is the time when an ultrasound is apt to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl.

The third trimester is the last three months of pregnancy, which, of course, occurs between the seventh to ninth months. It is observed that the abdomen is now expanded—more than it was during the early stages—and the baby inside the womb is active. The mother can feel the baby moving more that it did in the second trimester. According to the experiences of many, this is the most uncomfortable stage of pregnancy. This is characterized by back aches and fetus movement. The baby has improved its brain function by this time and keeps on rolling, thus causing discomfort to the mother.
